Santorini Spa & Hot Springs Retreat

Santorini's caldera was formed by one of the largest volcanic eruptions of the past ten thousand years, and the geothermal activity that shaped the island still produces warm sulphurous springs in the sea just off Nea Kameni, the active volcanic islet at the caldera's centre. This wellness day combines a boat excursion to those natural hot springs with an afternoon of treatments at a cliff-top spa in Imerovigli. The morning begins with a catamaran departure from Fira's Old Port, sailing across the caldera to moor off the orange-brown coastline of Nea Kameni. Guests swim or wade into the shallow thermal pool — the water hovers around 28–35°C depending on season and is tinged faintly yellow with sulphur — before the boat moves on to a second anchorage for a swim in open caldera water. Back on Santorini by early afternoon, the group transfers to the spa facility, where the programme includes a volcanic ash scrub, a 60-minute massage, and use of the infinity pool overlooking the caldera and the white cliff villages. The combination of geothermal bathing and manual therapies is designed to work in sequence: the minerals in the springs soften the skin and relax musculature before the massage. Bring a swimsuit, a change of clothes, and flip-flops; a light robe is provided at the spa. The boat excursion is weather-dependent and may be rescheduled during strong caldera winds (common in July and August).
