Ephesus Ancient City Full Day Tour

Ephesus was once the second-largest city in the Roman Empire, and walking its marble-paved streets today still communicates something of that scale — colonnaded avenues, a theatre that seated twenty-five thousand, and the two-storey Library of Celsus whose carved facade remains one of the most photographed monuments in Türkiye. The full-day tour departs from Selçuk and enters the site through the upper Magnesian Gate, walking downhill so that the city's layout becomes progressively clearer as the group descends toward the harbour road. A guide introduces the residential terrace houses, where excavated wall paintings and mosaic floors are protected under a climate-controlled shelter and reveal how wealthy Ephesians actually lived. The Temple of Hadrian, the public latrines, and the Odeon agora each receive focused stops before the group reaches the Great Theatre. After the main site the tour includes the Selçuk Ephesus Museum, where finds such as the Artemis cult statues and Roman portrait busts provide context that the open-air ruins cannot. The site is visited year-round; comfortable walking shoes with grip are essential as the marble paving becomes slippery when wet, and a hat plus water are strongly advisable from May onward.
