Amalfi Coast Cliff Diving Tour
About This Tour
The limestone cliffs of the Amalfi Coast plunge straight into the Tyrrhenian Sea, and this one-day adventure puts you at the edge of them. Departing from the harbour town of Amalfi, the tour travels by small motorboat along the coastline to a sequence of cliff-jumping spots ranging from three to twelve metres above the water, with a certified guide assessing conditions at each platform before any jump is made. Between sessions in the water, participants snorkel through sea caves and swim in coves sheltered from boat traffic, where the water shifts from pale turquoise to deep cobalt depending on depth. A mid-morning stop at a rocky terrace allows the group to rest, eat a packed lunch, and take in the layered cliffs and whitewashed villages clinging to the slopes above. The guide covers the history of the Maritime Republic of Amalfi, once one of the four great naval powers of medieval Italy, whose paper-making and trading traditions still mark the town today. On the return leg the boat passes beneath the village of Positano so participants can see the coast from the perspective that most visitors never reach. Wear a swimsuit under your clothes, bring a towel, reef-safe sunscreen, and water shoes with a rubber sole; a wetsuit top is provided for cooler months. The tour runs from late April through October, with morning departures timed to avoid midday wind.
